Sea Urchin Sting
Common when swimming near rocks
Don't panic!
Sea urchin stings are painful but rarely dangerous
Apply olive oil
Generously apply olive oil to the affected area. It softens the spines.
Soak in hot water
Soak in hot (not boiling) water for 30-90 minutes. Heat breaks down the toxins.
Remove visible spines
Use tweezers to carefully remove any visible spines. Don't dig!
Seek medical help if you experience severe pain, infection signs, or difficulty breathing.
Bee or Wasp Sting
Common near restaurants and gardens
Remove the stinger
Scrape it off with a credit card edge. Don't squeeze!
Clean the area
Wash with soap and water
Apply cold compress
Ice wrapped in cloth for 10-15 minutes to reduce swelling
Take antihistamine if needed

Sunstroke / Heat Exhaustion
Very common in July-August
Symptoms
- • Headache, dizziness
- • Nausea, vomiting
- • Hot, red skin
- • Rapid pulse
- • Confusion
What to Do
- • Move to shade/cool area
- • Drink cool water slowly
- • Apply cool cloths to neck/forehead
- • Rest and avoid activity
- • Call 112 if severe
Prevention: Wear a hat, use SPF 50+, drink 2-3L water daily, avoid midday sun (12-16:00).
Jellyfish Sting
Occasional in late summer
Rinse with seawater
Do NOT use fresh water - it activates more stinging cells
Remove tentacles carefully
Use tweezers or credit card edge, never bare hands
Apply vinegar or ice
Helps neutralize toxins and reduce pain
Mosquito Bites
Common in evenings near water
Treatment

- • Avoid scratching
- • Ice for swelling
